Code of conduct

This event exists so that people can learn from each other in a room where that is comfortable to do. The rules below are what makes that possible, and they apply to everyone — attendees, speakers, partners and organisers alike.

01

Our pledge

We want participation in .NET Conf 2026 Dushanbe to be a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, visible or invisible disability, ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender identity and expression, level of experience, education, socio-economic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.

A conference in Dushanbe draws people at very different points in their career, speaking at least three languages between them. Treating a beginner's question as a real question is not optional politeness here — it is most of why the event is worth running.

02

Expected behaviour

We ask everyone at the event to:

  • Be respectful of differing opinions, viewpoints and experiences.
  • Give and accept constructive feedback gracefully.
  • Take responsibility for mistakes, apologise to those affected, and learn from the experience.
  • Be patient with people asking beginner questions, and with people speaking their second or third language.
  • Follow the venue's rules and the instructions of the organising team.
03

Unacceptable behaviour

The following are not tolerated anywhere at the event:

  • Harassment, intimidation, stalking or unwelcome following, in person or online.
  • Sexualised language or imagery, and unwelcome sexual attention or advances of any kind.
  • Trolling, insulting or derogatory comments, and personal or political attacks.
  • Publishing others' private information, such as a physical or email address, without their explicit permission.
  • Photographing or recording someone who has asked you not to.
  • Sustained disruption of talks, the panel or other event activities.
  • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above.
04

Where this applies

This code of conduct applies in the venue for the whole of the event, in every talk and hallway conversation, and in the event's online spaces — the Telegram channel, the Instagram and LinkedIn accounts, and anywhere else someone is posting on the event's behalf.

It also applies when someone is representing the event in public, for example posting from an official account or speaking as a .NET Conf Dushanbe organiser.

05

Reporting

If you experience or witness behaviour that breaks this code, tell an organiser. On the day, organisers are identifiable at the registration desk and will be wearing event badges. You can also message the organising team directly on Telegram, before, during or after the event.

Reports are handled privately. We will not share your name with the person you are reporting without asking you first, and you are welcome to report on behalf of someone else. Please tell us as much as you are comfortable telling us — what happened, when, and who was involved — but a partial report is far better than no report.

If you are in immediate danger, contact the emergency services first and an organiser second.

06

Enforcement

Organisers are responsible for clarifying these standards and will take fair corrective action in response to any behaviour they consider inappropriate, threatening, offensive or harmful.

Depending on the severity, that may mean a private warning, being asked to stop a specific behaviour, being asked to leave a session, or being removed from the venue and the event's online spaces without a refund of anything you paid to be there. Organisers may also remove or edit contributions in the event's online spaces that are not aligned with this code.

We will not act against someone in good faith for reporting a problem.

07

Attribution

This code of conduct is adapted from the Contributor Covenant, version 2.1, available at contributor-covenant.org, with additions drawn from the .NET Foundation's event policy.
